Sweet Waverly

With the little one on the way, we have been a little anxious to see how the dogs will adjust to their new family member. Although we are sure they will all adjust just fine, we know of one that is already excited and will be a great pet for sure! Our miniature schnauzer, Waverly, is literally the sweetest thing on the planet anyway but she REALLY REALLY loves babies! When Matt brought the carseat in for the first time, Wave was so excited and kept looking for the baby and wondering where he was. For the past few months, she has been extra-loving towards me and we can't help to think she knows something is going on, even if she's not exactly sure what it is. This is good and bad because she is pretty much attached to me no matter where I am, including trying to sleep at night! Our sweet puppy already loves to snuggle with Jack, and she has been kicked a time or two!

We also have used her as our "test-baby" to make sure everything is safe (and by that statement, I mean we think it is hilarious and she is a good sport). Waverly has been diapered as well as tested a bouncer and tested the changing table.

Overall, she is the cutest, sweetest girl and Jackson will be lucky to have a puppy like her! We found a book that is perfect for the nursery and pays homage to a great dog!

So here's to a cool pup who keeps us entertained and truly loves everybody (even cats)!

Starting Applique

Since I am off work for the summer and it is WAY TO HOT OUTSIDE :), I decided to try and do some applique onesies for Jack. The first one took A LOT LONGER than the rest. Once I got the hang of it, they came along pretty quickly and I was really happy with the finished products! Can't wait until he is here to wear them!

After doing these onesies, I decided to go ahead and try to make a couple of outfits for Halloween and Thanksgiving. It seems a little early to already be prepping for these holidays but I doubt I'll have a lot of spare time once the little one gets here to do any sewing. I decided to try my hand at making a complete outfit and found a pants pattern online to use. The pants were a little bit of a struggle to get the hang of but they ended up being a "one-afternoon" project.

Golf Themed Nursery

As soon as we found out we were having a boy, the hunt for a nursery theme began! After looking at countless blogs, websites, and Google searches, there just wasn't anything that I absolutely loved. So we decided a little DIY would do the trick! After all the looking, inspiration was found from several different places and we decided a golf-themed nursery is what we wanted. Not too over-the-top golf but just enough so he can grow into the room. The room is far from finished but we have made a lot of progress! Here is what we have so far:

We started off with a little taping and a lot of paint:

I was able to do a lot of the painting since we splurged and bought No-Voc paint:

We went with a fresh earthy green. I was a little worried at first but now we love it! Not too bright or dark:

Matt and I completed the first coat and his mom helped us out by coming down and she helped Matt finish the whole second coat (I was "off-the-hook" again!). Notice the carpet in this pic. As I mentioned before, Matt ripped out the carpet in this room, as well as the guest room, and installed new flooring:

After the paint and flooring was installed, the fun part began! Since I never could find any bedding/accessories that we just loved, I decided to make them instead! Here are a few pictures of what is done so far:

Plaid and burlap (yes- burlap!) curtains! The details at the bottom of the curtains are my favorite- overall, a very easy project to complete. These fabrics are continued throughout the room.  Matt did the heavy lifting and hung them:

 I also created this monogram with the burlap and plaid and included some brown fabric to accent. You can't tell from this angle but the monogram is raised and gives a 3D look:

Matt's grandparents gave us this rocker- I love it! In the rocker is a pillow that I made with burlap and appliqued fabric:

  One of our good friends scored this from the Fed-Ex St. Jude Golf Tournament. They hold these up when the golfers are about to swing. We hung this on the outside of the door (Matt's idea) and it gives the room a nice touch! Thanks Rita!

First Steps...

So to begin prepping for Baby Sellers, we decided the carpet HAD TO GO! After selling my bedroom suit from college (tear) and the pool table (hallelujah) we bought flooring. It was a pretty major project but handy husband Matt installed it in both the guest bedroom and the nursery. He did the majority of work by himself since I am on the sidelines these days and he did a wonderful job!!! It really looks great and we are so relieved to be carpet-free in this house! We were lucky enough to have some family heirloom furniture passed down to us and we replaced my sold furniture in the guest room. It is beautiful!

Oh, I almost forgot! Matt also re-ran the cable from the "pool-table room" (not sure what we'll call that room now??) to the guest room so we now have full TV service for company! 

We couldn't be happier with the end results in the guest room and the nursery! (pics of nursery to follow)

Here We Go!

Considering we have a new addition on the way (only 3 months to go!), creating a blog seemed like a good idea! Jackson will be here before we know it and we are busy as bees preparing for his arrival. I hope to chronicle progress already made (backtracking a little) as well as future projects and updates about our lives.
